
RiverKings place defenseman Tessier on IR

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Memphis RiverKings Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin McClelland announced today that the team has placed veteran defenseman Jason Tessier on the 14 day Injured Reserve. Tessier suffered a groin injury in the RiverKings' 5-4 win over Colorado on January 12. His placement on the IR list will be retroactive to that date.
Tessier was scheduled to partake in this week's All Star Game in Bossier City, LA, but was unable to do so because of the injury. Through 33 games this season, the first year RiverKing had two goals and 22 assists. His assist total is sixth among all CHL defensemen.
The Northeast Division leading RiverKings return to the ice following the all star break tonight with the first of two games versus the Southwest Division leading Odessa Jackalopes. Tonight's game is 7:05 with the first 1,500 fans getting a RiverKings drawstring backpack. Saturday's game is a special 2 p.m. start and the first 1,000 fans 12 and younger will take home a Memphis Wings youth jersey. The team will also be wearing Memphis Wings retro jerseys that will be auctioned for charity after the game. Both games will be followed by a post game skate.
