Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Central Hockey League has announced the starters for this year's CHL All-Star Game, scheduled for Wednesday, January 12th, 2011 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena in Rapid City, South Dakota. Mississippi RiverKings' defenseman Nathan Lutz has been named one of the starters for the CHL All-Star Team that will play the defending league champion Rapid City Rush in this year's event.
Lutz, a first-year defenseman for the RiverKings in his ninth year of professional hockey, is currently one of the top point producers from the blue line in the Central Hockey League.
The native of Mistatim, Saskatchewan, Canada is second in the league for points by the defenseman with 23 through 25 games of the RiverKings regular season, entering tonight's action. Lutz is tied for second in the CHL for goals scored by a defenseman with eight and is fifth in the circuit for assists by a defenseman with 15.
Lutz' five power play goals place him in a tie for third place among CHL blue liners and he is one of six league defensemen to have scored a shorthanded goal this year. Two of his goals have been game-winners, putting him in a tie for first in the CHL in that stat category.
At the team level, Lutz is currently tied for third place overall in points, is fifth in goals scored, and is third in assists. He is third on the RiverKings' roster for power play goals scored and tied for the roster lead in game winning goals.
Since the recent format change to host team vs. league all-stars, one RiverKings player per year has represented the franchise in the All-Star Game. Lultz will become the second straight Mississippi defenseman honored in this manner. Derek Landmesser and Louis Dumont were previously tabbed as RiverKings all-stars under the new format, with Landmesser being named to the All-Star team last season.
Here's the entire list of starters for the CHL All-Star team. The vote totals for the top-vote getters at each position are listed.
F- David Rutherford, BOS - 34 votes
F- Neil Trimm, LAR
F- Sebastien Thinel, ODE
D- Darcy Campbell, RGV - 35 votes

The 2:00 PM game from the Allen Event Center will be broadcast on Sports 56, WHBQ-AM, www.sports56whbq.com, and on CHL-TV through the RiverKings team web site.
Next home action for the RiverKings will be Sunday, January 2nd at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, when they host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in a 3:05 PM faceoff.
