Quad City Mallards News Release
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (December 23, 2010) - Rob Nolan made 22 saves and Olivier Fillion and Simon Watson both scored as the host Missouri Mavericks blanked the Quad City Mallards 2-0 Thursday night.
Fillion tipped in the opening goal at 10:26 of the first period. In the wake of that goal, Mallard goaltender Adam Russo left the game due to an apparent injury and was replaced by David Brown.
The Maverick lead doubled at 6:30 of the second period when Watson redirected a power play goal home.
The Mavericks protected the 2-0 lead the rest of the way- even after the Mallards emptied the net for an extra attacker with just over three minutes remaining in the third period.
