RiverKings Eighth In Latest Coaches Poll

(Southaven, MS) --- The Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League are ranked eighth in the latest Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll, released late Wednesday afternoon from the league offices.

The RiverKings remain in the top ten, but fell one spot from seventh in the last poll, released in mid-November.

Mississippi garnered 48 points in the balloting, based on a 10-9-8-7-6, etc. point scale. The RiverKings have a 9-9-2 record entering this weekend's schedule of play.

For the third straight poll, the Odessa Jackalopes received the top spot with 13 first place votes and 139 points. Allen received the other two first place ballots and totaled 121 points for second place.

Northern Conference co-leader Colorado finished third in the balloting with 111 points. The 12-3-1 Eagles meet the RiverKings in Southaven this Friday night, December 4th, starting at 7:05 PM.

The other Northern Conference co-leader, Tulsa, was ranked fourth and Rapid City, currently fourth in the Northern Conference standings, finished in fifth place.

The remaining teams in the top ten in order, were Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Mississippi, Texas, and Bossier-Shreveport.

The RiverKings meet Colorado Friday night and Missouri Sunday afternoon in Southaven. Friday's game time is 7:05 PM and it will be a 3:05 PM start on Sunday afternoon.
