Mississippi RiverKings News Release

Southaven, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings have announced a broadcast agreement with WHBQ-Sports56AM, which results in an immediate departure from Legacy media, aka KWAM990. The new agreement between the RiverKings and WHBQ reignites a very successful relationship that had previously been in place for four years prior to the 2007-2008 Season.

"We wish all of Legacy the best, the RiverKings just feel that with our extensive fan base, especially in the Northern Mississippi market, that WHBQ's coverage would better fit our needs. We've heard the concerns from our fan base and feel that this is the best move for both Legacy and the RiverKings", Gene Szucs, Director of RiverKings Marketing said.

"WHBQ and the RiverKings have had a very special and successful relationship, and we hope our fans will be as excited as we are to put our broadcast into their very capable hands", Dave Mattice, RiverKings Director of Business Operations said.

WHBQ will take the reins over on the RiverKings broadcast starting this Friday, December 7, when the RiverKings face the Youngstown Steelhounds at the DeSoto Civic Center at 7:00 PM. It's Military Appreciation Night, all personnel with a valid military ID will receive a ticket for $5.
