The Rayz will welcome over 3,000 local area elementary and high school students to the game this Wednesday morning at 11:05am when they host the Arizona Sundogs. The Rayz have a four-game point streak and will look to continue that streak this week. Tickets are on sale for the game this Wednesday morning. The 4th Annual Cool School Game, presented by the American Bank Center, SMG and the City of Corpus Christi continues a tradition that lasts as long as the American Bank Center has been in existence. Each year the Rayz bring out thousands of local area students for an exciting, educational field trip at absolutely no cost to the students. During pre-game and intermissions, special guests talk to the children about the importance of physical fitness, safety and the technique involved in creating an ice surface. Rayz General Manager Maribel Castillo said that this annual event is always one of the most exciting days of the calendar.
"The Cool School Day Game is a staple of the Rayz schedule and a game we look forward to every year," she said. "The atmosphere is electric at the game. For many of these students, this will be their first hockey game and seeing their excitement is always so special. This is also a great opportunity to promote the importance of good health, safety, and to teach the children about the science and intricacies it takes to create the ice and equipment of the sport of hockey. Our goal is to make this a special day that these kids will always remember, and with the help of the American Bank Center, SMG and the City of Corpus Christi, we're looking forward to doing that again this year."
If you have tickets to Wednesday's game and will be unable to use them, you can donate them through the Rayz office. The Rayz will in turn bring out additional students or non profit organizations to the game on your behalf. If you are interested in donating your tickets, please call 361.814.7825 and ask for a Rayz ticket representative.
The Rayz will host the Arizona Sundogs at 11:05am on Wednesday for the first time since their epic seven-game series in the opening round of the 2007 CHL Playoffs. Corpus Christi and Arizona will meet four times this season and twice at the American Bank Center. The Rayz are currently on a four-game point streak and within five points of second place in the Southeast Division. The Sundogs are currently ranked second in the Southwest Division a point behind the Odessa Jackalopes, but have the highest winning percentage in the division. Arizona has won four in a row.
The Rayz are proud to be celebrating a decade of hockey in South Texas. Individual game tickets are currently available. Get your Rayz tickets today at www.ticketmaster.com, at any Ticketmaster outlet or the American Bank Center. Rayz group discounts are also available.
