Riverhounds Host Orlando City Lions Friday Night at Highmark

Pittsburgh-The Pittsburgh Riverhounds welcome the defending USL PRO Champion, the Orlando City Lions to Highmark Stadium Friday night for their final leg of a home-and-home series this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on YouTube.

Following a weekend off, the Riverhounds come into the match carrying a two-game unbeaten streak with consecutive draws against Richmond and Charleston. Focused on earning their first win and providing Orlando with their first loss of the season, Friday night's meeting will carry a playoff-like atmosphere in Station Square.

"Everyone understands what's at stake here - Orlando is looking to maintain their unbeaten record, and we are looking for our first win," commented head coach Justin Evans. "It is set up to be an electric night of soccer in Pittsburgh."

The two clubs met in late March at ESPN World Wide of Sports, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The Riverhounds potent scoring duo of Jose Angulo and Matt Dallman linked up early in the second half to jump on top of the Lions. Eight minutes later, the Lions drew even with the Riverhounds on a controversial collision between Hunter Gilstrap and Rob Valentino on a corner kick. While Gilstrap and Valentino lay motionless on the ground, Orlando defender Luke Boden connected cleanly with the bouncing ball and tucked his shot just inside the near post to wrap up the scoring on the night.

In honor of Mother's Day weekend, the Riverhounds will present the 2nd 'Soccer Mom of the 'Burgh' contest presented by Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. The three finalists will be recognized during a halftime presentation, followed by the announcement of the grand prize winner.

The Riverhounds remain at Highmark Stadium on Saturday, May 17 to close out a three-game home stand, when they host the Rochester Rhinos. This match will open a two-month regional rivalry series between the Riverhounds, Rhinos, Dayton Dutch Lions, and Harrisburg City Islanders.
