Arizona United Soccer Club Adds Tshuma on Loan

PEORIA, Ariz. (Thursday, May 8, 2014) --Arizona United Soccer Club has received forward Schillo Tshuma on loan from the Portland Timbers of Major League Soccer for the 2014 USL PRO season, pending league and USSF approval. The Timbers have the right to recall Tshuma at any time.

Tshuma, 21, was selected by the Timbers with the 17th overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. At the beginning of the USL PRO season, Tshuma was loaned out to the Orange County Blues FC. He made his professional debut with the Blues and logged 92 minutes in two league appearances.

A native of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Tshuma moved to the Washington, D.C., suburbs in 2008 as part of a partnership between Grassroots Soccer and Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Va. Tshuma attended the University of Maryland and was a two-year starter for the Terrapins from 2012-13, appearing in 49 matches with 16 goals and three assists. In his final season he was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Second Team after helping Maryland to reach the 2013 NCAA championship game against Notre Dame.

Tshuma was on three Virginia state championship teams while at Episcopal High School and was named2011 All-Met Boys' Soccer Player of the Year.He has representedZimbabwe at the U-17 and U-23 levels.
