Hammerheads Travel to Charleston

Wilmington Hammerheads FC News Release

Wilmington, NC - Wilmington Hammerheads FC will travel to Blackbaud Stadium on Saturday, May 10 to take on the Charleston Battery for their second road match of the 2014 USL PRO regular season. The teams are slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff as the Battery hosts their annual 'Kick for a Cure' match.

The Hammerheads are coming off a recent 0-0 draw versus the Rochester Rhinos last weekend as they continued to battle for victory at home, while the Battery are succeeding two road wins versus the Harrisburg City Islanders and Dayton Dutch Lions. The Battery have played eight matches to the Hammerheads four this season.

"We are certainly looking for a victory on the road this weekend," said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Head Coach David Irving. "We played a good game in Pittsburgh on the road a few weeks ago and I have no doubt that we will continue to do so. Charleston is tough competition, friends and rivals due to the close vicinity of our teams."

Historically, the teams have played back-to-back nights at both locations. The Hammerheads will host the Battery at Legion Stadium next weekend on Saturday, May 17 to conclude their scheduled back-to-back weekend matches versus one another this year.

This weekend's match can be viewed live on the Charleston Battery's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/TheCHSBattery.

Fans in Wilmington are encouraged to join the Hammerheads organization for a live Watch Party at Buffalo Wild Wings on Old Eastwood Road to cheer on the team as they play at Blackbaud Stadium. Drink specials and raffles will be available.
