Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

Rockford, IL -- Little did Nick Johnson know when he singled as the second batter in the 8th, that he'd have a chance for his 4th hit of the ball game. 12 Rockford batters came to the plate, 9 recorded hits including 2 from Johnson, and 7 scored to bump the Rockford RiverHawks to a 15-6 trouncing of the ThunderBolts Friday night at Marinelli Field.

After 7 and a half innings the RiverHawks held an 8-6 edge. Jeremy Busch led the frame off with a single and Johsnon pushed him to 2nd with a base knock. First baseman Aaron McEachran bounced into a fielder's choice to wipe Johnson out. The next 6 batters reached against Windy City reliever Brent Jackson. 7 RiverHawks scored in the process. Then, Johnson stroked his second single of the frame. He was a total 4-for-5 with a run scored. Jerome McCoy tallied a 2-run single in the home half of the 8th as well.

The game was square at 6 after Windy City clamored for 4 in the visitor's half. Nick Klusaw's 2-run single accounted for half of the scoring in the frame. A wild pitch and an error assisted with the rest.

Rockford regained the lead at 8-6 on McEachran's 2-run home run to left center field. It was his team-leading 10th.

Overall Johnson is 7-for-10 against his former team in the series. McCoy was 3-for-5 in his first Rockford start with a trio driven in. Jason Crosland was 2-for-3 with a solo home run for the Bolts. They dropped to 7-16 on the road this season.

Both starting pitchers lasted 4 innings and two-thirds. Bolt Scott Anderson allowed 6 earned runs and 8 hits. Kevin Crowley surrendered 2 earned on 6 base knocks. Dave Dowling was credited with the win. He's 1-1. Brandon Kellbach allowed the McEachran homer and was saddled with the loss. He's 0-1. Curt Borland earned his first save.

Tomorrow's game shows a pregame at 6:45. Gametime is 7:05 at www.wjobcalpress.com or WJOB 1230 AM. Ryan Dittfurth opposes lefty Frank James.
