LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks donated more than $2,200 of ticket sales and 50-50 raffle contributions from August 6th's game at Road Ranger Stadium to the Kevin Rice Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Rice was a Rockford detective who was killed while off-duty on August 3, 2001. The scholarship, created shortly after Rice's death, is for students pursuing degrees in either criminal justice or political science.

A table on the concourse at Road Ranger Stadium allowed fans to make donations through the 50-50 raffle, and see memorabilia made in Rice's honor.

Rice's youngest son threw out the first pitch as well.

"It's great to be able to help a cause like the Kevin Rice Scholarship Fund," general manager Brad Sholes said. "This is exactly the goal we set out to achieve when we began our fundraising program. The RiverHawks are committed to serving the Stateline community through fundraising."

The RiverHawks are pleased to offer organizations a way to raise money by selling tickets. Organizations can purchase discounted tickets and sell them at face value. The difference goes to the organization.

For more information on how to fundraise for your organization, contact a group sales representative at (815) 885-2255.
