Rockford RiverHawks News Release

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks have acquired pitcher Tyree Hayes from the Evansville Otters to complete a previous trade.

The Otters sent Hayes to the RiverHawks on Saturday as the player to be named in the June trade that sent 2011 Frontier League All-Star infielder Luis Parache to Evansville.

Hayes, who turns 24 on Aug. 8, is a former Tampa Bay farmhand. The then-Devil Rays drafted him out of high school in the eighth round in 2006 and he spent five years in their organization. After his release by the Rays, the right-hander spent 2011 in the Cincinnati organization and got as high as Bakersfield of the high Class A California League. He was a combined 3-3 with a 4.63 earned-run average and a save in 26 relief appearances at two stops in the Cincinnati organization.

This year in the Frontier League, Hayes is 2-3 with a 4.17 ERA in 21 relief appearances. Hayes is the son of former major-league third baseman Charlie Hayes.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league in its 20th season. Games are broadcast live on WNTA (100.5 FM). Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
