THE WEEK THAT WAS:

December 28, 2005 @ Danbury (6-3 L)

A pair of goals by former RiverDogs David Hymovitz and Mike Omicioli and two three goal runs led the Danbury Trashers to a 6-3 win over the Richmond RiverDogs. The RiverDogs got goals from Joey Bastien, Mike Oliveira and Bobby Kukulka. Bastien began the scoring midway in the first period before Hymovitz tied the score with 1:52 remaining. From that point on, it was all Danbury as the Trashers put two more on the board before Oliveira closed the gap at 3-2 as the period wound down. The Trashers scored three straight in the final stanza for the victory. Mike D'Alessandro was in goal for the RiverDogs. Attendance: 3,005.

December 30, 2005 vs. Danbury (6-2 L)

Danbury made it two straight against the RiverDogs as former Dog David Hymovitz continues his hot hand against his former club. Hymovitz scored one goal and added three assists as the Trashers defeat the RiverDogs 6-2. The Trashers scored four straight in the first 10:02 which led to an early exit for starter Doug Groenestege. Mike D'Alessandro relieved and played well in hopes for a strong RiverDogs comeback. The RiverDogs got two goals from Mike Oliveira and linemate Joey Bastien to cut the Trashers lead to 5-2. Brad Wingfield scored with 2:35 left and a Danbury victory. Attendance: 4,391.

December 31, 2005 @ Danbury (5-4 SOL)

The RiverDogs and Trashers met for the third straight game, this time in Danbury. The Dogs went out to a 3-1 lead on goals from J.J. Wrobel, Mike Oliveira and Dan Vandermeer. However, the Trashers went on a three goal run to edge ahead 4-3. Oliveira scored his second goal of the game with 8:49 left to tie 4-4 and force a shootout. Danbury outscored the RiverDogs 3-2 to get the two points. Mike D'Alessandro was in goal for the RiverDogs. Attendance: 2,088.

January 1, 2006 vs. Elmira (3-2 L)

The RiverDogs took a 2-0 lead on goals from Rafal Martynowski and R.C. Lyke. Elmira's Jason Sessa broke Mike D'Alessandro's shutout bid with a goal near the end of the second period. The Jackals got a pair of goals 2:21 apart to go ahead 3-2. D'Alessandro was pulled for an extra attacker with 1:05 left but the RiverDogs were unable to score on Jackals goaltender Ryan McIntosh as the horn sounded and a 3-2 RiverDogs defeat. Attendance: 3,341.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

The RiverDogs will take on the defending Colonial Cup Champion Muskegon Fury on Friday, January 6, 2006 and Saturday, January 7, 2006. Both games will commence at 7:35 pm. Friday is also Fas mart Friday with the first 3,000 fans in attendance receiving a mug, courtesy of Fas mart. Saturday is Richmond Times-Dispatch Family 4 Night. For $44.00 a family (or group) of four can receive 4 tickets, 4 sodas, 4 hot dogs and 4 fling-a-pucks. They will also receive four coupons for each of the following: Racing at G-Force Racing; Chipolte burritos, skate passes to Skate Nation Plus, smoothies at Tropical Smoothie Café and four weeks of the Richmond Times-Dispatch free.
