Martin earns second weekly award

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce that goaltender Joel Martin was selected as the UHL's Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 20th.

In three games last week, Martin was a pillar of consistency and in the process helped propel the K-Wings to the top of the UHL. The native of Three Hills, Manitoba went 2-1-0 for the week, which included a 4-0 shutout victory over the Fort Wayne Komets last Friday at Wings Stadium. In three games, Martin had a 1.34 goals against average and stopped 86 of the 90 shots he faced.

Martin leads UHL in goals against average (1.85), wins (16), shutouts (5) and save percentage (0.932).

The Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week Award is the second earned by Martin in his UHL career, with the previous honor occurring for the period ending November 20th. The award is also the tenth collected by a K-Wings goaltender in the team's UHL history.

The K-Wings, who lead the league and Central Division with 48 points, will continue their four-game road swing with three games this week. Kalamazoo will travel to Danbury this Wednesday night before playing a weekend set in Roanoke.

Kalamazoo's first home game of the New Year will be Wednesday, January 11th, as the K-Wings host the Rockford IceHogs at 7:30 p.m.on Monaco Bay College Night.
