
Mallards Finish 2005 with 14-12-5 Mark

Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Mallards went 2-2-0 in the final week of 2005 to move to 14-12-5 on the year. The week began with a 3-1 loss at home to Fort Wayne. The Mallards avenged that defeat in the back end of the home and home on Tuesday night in Fort Wayne. Jason Tapp earned his second shutout of the year in the 2-0 victory at The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. On Thursday, the team returned home to host Flint. A spirited Mallards effort came up just short in the 2-1 loss to the Generals. Quad City wrapped up the week with a 4-2 win over Missouri at The Family Arena on Saturday night.
This week, the Mallards begin 2006 with three games vs. Rockford and another match-up with Fort Wayne. On Wednesday and Friday, the Mallards visit the Metrocentre in Rockford. Saturday night, the team returns to Fort Wayne for their third post-Christmas meeting with the Komets. Sunday afternoon at 1, the Mallards return home to face the Hogs for the third time in five days.

Mallards Season Ticket Holder Holiday Party
The Mallards will welcome season ticket holders to The MARK on Tuesday, January 10th for the team's annual Holiday Party. The fun begins at 6 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. All season ticket holders are welcome.
Season Ticket Holder Buddy Nights
The Mallards have announced a schedule for upcoming "Buddy Nights". On these special nights, season ticket holders will receive a voucher for one free upper bowl ticket for every ticket they hold. These seats can be upgraded to lower bowl tickets for just $5. Vouchers can be picked up at the season ticket holder Holiday Party on January 10th, Maroon Mortgage Information Table during games or at The Mallards Nest Team Store.

The Mallards face the Western Division leading Hogs three times this week. It's a prime opportunity for the second place Mallards to close the 12 point lead the Hogs hold for first in the West. The Mallards are 0-3-0 vs. Rockford this year.

The Mallards return to Fort Wayne for their fifth meeting with the Komets. The team is 2-1-1 vs. the Komets this year including a 2-0 win the last time the teams met on December 27th in Fort Wayne.

The Mallards meet Rockford for the third time in five days on Sunday afternoon at The MARK.

The Maroon Mortgage Pre-Game Show is on 25 minutes prior to face-off on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230. During the intermissions, stay tuned for the Swiss Valley Farms Intermission Report. After the game, the Allstate Insurance Christy Cox Post-Game Show is on the air.

Monday, December 26th-Komets 3 at Mallards 1
The Mallards ended their month-long road trip with a homecoming game on Monday at The MARK. The Komets ruined the festivities with a 4-1 win over Quad City. Glenn Detulleo scored the lone Mallards goal. Fort Wayne's Colin Chaulk scored in each of the first two periods including a power-play goal in the second to give the Komets a 2-0 lead. In the third, Lance Galbraith scored for the Komets to extend the lead to 3-0. Glenn Detulleo scored his sixth goal of the year with 1:18 left in the game to ruin Kevin St. Pierre's bid for his first shutout of 2005-06.
Tuesday, December 27th-Mallards 2 at Komets 0
Jason Tapp earned his second shutout of the season as the Mallards beat the Komets 2-0 in Fort Wayne on Tuesday night. The win avenged a 3-1 defeat to the Komets the previous night at The MARK. Matt Radoslovich and Chad Woollard scored the goals in the win. Both Mallards goals were scored in the first 2:41 of the second period. Radoslovich recorded his ninth off a feed from Woollard just 1:13 into the middle period. Woollard scored just 1:28 later off Radoslovich's feed. Tapp was spectacular throughout making 34 saves to earn his 11th win and second shutout of the year.
Thurdsday, December 29th-Generals 3 at Mallards 1
The Mallards dropped a 2-1 decision on Thursday night to Flint. Patrick Nadeau recorded the lone Mallards goal. In the first, Flint took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Leo Thomas. The tally was Thomas' team-leading 13th of the season. In the second, Vin Hellemeyer scored his third of the year to stake the Generals to a 2-0 lead. The Mallards controlled play throughout much of the contest and made a furious push to tie the game late. Patrick Nadeau scored with 9:12 left to pull the Mallards to within one goal. Nadeau's marker was the ninth of the season for the seventh-year Mallard. Despite a late surge, the Mallards could not net the equalizer as Flint's Jason Saal made 34 saves.
Saturday, December 31st-Mallards 4 at River Otters 2
The Mallards downed Missouri 4-2 on Saturday night in their last game of 2005. The victory was the first of the season for the Mallards in Missouri. Samy Nasreddine, Chad Woollard, Tom Clayton and Noah Whyte scored for the Mallards in the win. Frank Littlejohn scored the lone goal of the opening period on a feed from Jim Duhart. The goal was Littlejohn's 13th of the year and gave the Otters a 1-0 lead. In the second, the Mallards tied the game on Samy Nasreddine's third goal of the year. The Otters responded three minutes later as Littlejohn scored his second of the night. Chad Woollard answered Littlejohn's goal with his team-leading 19th tally of the year. The Durham, Ontario native's goal was the last of the middle period and the teams headed into the second intermission tied at two. The Mallards took command in the third as Tom Clayton scored his first goal as a Mallard to give Quad City their first lead of the game. Clayton's third UHL goal of the season gave the Mallards a 3-2 edge. Noah Whyte extended the lead to 4-2 as he tipped an Anthony Blummer shot past Missouri's Kevin Reiter for his fourth goal of the year.
Player of the Week
Chad Woollard is the Mallards nominee for the UHL Player of the Week. He had a goal and an assist in each of the Mallards wins this week. During four games played, he recorded two goals and two assist for four points.
Goalie of the Week
Jason Tapp is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He played all four contests for the Mallards this week going 2-2-0 with a .936 save percentage and a 1.76 goals against average. Included in Tapp's pair of victories was his second shutout of the year on Tuesday night in Fort Wayne.
