Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, S.C. - Following heavy rains at Joseph P. Riley Park, Sunday's scheduled game between the Charleston RiverDogs and the Asheville Tourists has been postponed.
The contest will be made up as part of a doubleheader Monday, August 31, which will start at 6:05 p.m. at The Joe. Each game of that doubleheader will be scheduled for seven innings. Fans in attendance for Monday's twinbill will be treated to $1 beers and $1 hot dogs in the Ashley View Pub beginning when gates open at 5 p.m. Fans with tickets to Sunday's game can bring them to the box office and exchange them for any remaining RiverDogs game this season.
Due to the postponement of the RiverDogs' final "Seersucker Sunday" the in-stadium jersey auction has been altered. Instead of putting the jerseys up for auction in the stadium, some will be available via online auction. The remaining jerseys will be sold in the RiverDogs souvenir store at The Joe or via the Online Store. All of the proceeds of the jerseys sold will go to the foundation benefiting Chris Singleton.
Every Monday at The Joe is Coors Monday Night Baseball, presented by Kickin' 92.5. Visit the Ashley View Pub for $1 hot dogs and $1 draft beers as the RiverDogs again spoof Monday Night Football. For this week's Monday Night Baseball, the Sertoma Cheerleaders will be in attendance. The squads will be introduced and run onto the field through the inflatable Charlie T. RiverDog head just like the players. They will perform a RiverDogs cheer on the field and then line up along the outfield grass to give the RiverDogs team high-fives as they enter the park. Our "Dogs with a Cause" this week features the Charleston & Dorchester Mental Health Center, one of the largest and most innovative centers operated by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Sergeant Patrick McLaughlin and Officer Terry Ann Ferguson will be honored in an on-field ceremony. Representative Leon Stavrinakis will be presenting Resolutions to Sergeant McLaughlin and Officer Ferguson, and Chief Gregory Mullen will give remarks about the officers' heroic actions saving the lives of two individuals in the community.
COMING UP: In Monday's first game against Asheville, LHP Justin Kamplain (4-14, 4.72 ERA) will get the start for Charleston against LHP Sam Howard (10-9, 3.54) for the Tourists beginning at 6:05 p.m. The starters for game two have yet to be announced. You can listen to all the action on RiverDogs.com and the Tune-In Radio beginning at 6:00 p.m., while "The Big Talker" 1250 WTMA, and WTMA.com will join the games at 7 p.m.
