Riverdogs top Legends, 8-7

Outfielder Steve Brown homered in his first at bat in more than a month as Lexington built a 3-0 lead, but a five-run rally in the third gave Charleston a 6-3 lead. The Legends came back to tie the score at 6-6 and 7-7, but a tie-breaking run in the seventh inning for Charleston stood up as the RiverDogs beat the Legends 8-7 in the opener of a four-game series in Charleston. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte. who leads the South Atlantic League in saves with 11, pitched a scoreless ninth. He pitched left-handed to one batter and right-handed to three others. Rosario singled against Venditte, but was left stranded at first.

Rosario gave Lexington a 1-0 lead with his fourth home run of the year in the top of the first. Brown, just coming off the disabled list, homered to right field with Brandon Barnes aboard in the third.

Brandon Braboy (2-1), a Ballard County native and a graduate of Heath High School, got the win for Charleston. Jose Trinidad, (0-3) pitching in relief for Lexington, took the loss.
