
Tourists Send Braves Packing

Rome, GA -The Asheville Tourists defeated the Rome Braves 6-1 Wednesday night in front of 2,296 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The win halted Rome's six game win streak.
Asheville took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a run scoring fielder's choice by Jordan Pacheco, an RBI single by Jimmy Cesario, and an RBI single by Joseph Massey. The Tourists added an insurance run in the second to give them the 4-0 advantage when Thomas Field scored from third on a throwing error by Stephen Shults. Two additional runs were added by Asheville in the third on a two run homer by David Christensen to make it a 6-0 game. In the fifth the Braves scored their only run of the game on an RBI single by Chais Fuller for the 6-1 final.
Dan Houston (1-1) was the winning pitcher for the Tourists, while Zeke Spruill (6-1) got the loss for the Braves.
