
RiverDogs Ring in Summer with Four-Game Series at The Joe

CHARLESTON, SC - The boys of the Lowcountry summer are back as the Charleston RiverDogs return to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The Charlestonbaseball faithful are invited out to The Joe as the RiverDogs take on their SAL Southern Division rivals, the Savannah Sand Gnats, for a four-game series from Thursday through Sunday, May 20-23. Fans of Big Apple baseball will be especially excited for this matchup as it features the future Bronx Bombers facing off against the New York Mets Single-A club.
Ogres, Boy Scouts and rockers alike are all invited out to this homestand as it's filled of with our weekly wacky promotions, sweet ballpark deals and great giveaways. Between Irish Night, Boy Scout Night, America's Favorite CraftTime and the annual postgame Christian concert, baseball fans in the Holy City are sure to find something new to add to their "Be Your Own Fan" RiverDogs experience.
May 20: Thirsty Thursday and Irish Night*
Forget Erin Go Bragh, it's Charlie Go Bragh this Thursday! Fans of St. Patty's Day in Charleston are sure to love this green twist we're putting on *Budweiser *Thirsty Thursday with Irish Night. We've still got our special Thirsty Thursday $1 beers and $1.50 mini hot dogs in the Ashley View Pub but fans can also enjoy green beer and hot dogs. Everyone is invited participate in a scavenger hunt for gold and potato sack race. Thirsty Thursday/Irish Night is presented by Budweiser and 95 SX.
May 21:Force Protection Red Shirt Friday/Piggly Wiggly Post-Game Fireworks/Boy Scout Night/Shrek as in Wreck 2
It's another Force Protection Red Shirt Friday with fans that wear a red shirt getting a dollar off on the walk-up ticket price and then having the option to be a fan of our service men and women by donating that dollar to a military family with parents fighting overseas.
While the players provide the fireworks on the diamond, Piggly Wiggly brings fans the fireworks after the game. Following Friday's contest we go big with The Pig as we light up the night sky with our Piggly Wiggly fireworks spectacular that's worthy of only Charleston's greatest "Be Your Own Fans!"
Whether you're a fan of honor or ogres we've got you covered on Friday as well, as we welcome local Boy Scout troops for a night at the park and celebrate the upcoming release of Shrek Forever After. All Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts who have registered for the night will receive a special patch to show off their RiverDogs fandom. The camaraderie continues with a special on-the-field overnight campout. Also, we're getting ready for the Ogre's successful return to the big screen with Shrek as in Wreck 2. May 22:Kia Country of Charleston Saturday at the Ballpark/Umbrella Giveaway/America's Favorite CraftTime
The Lowcountry's beer and baseball fans have the unique opportunity to taste some of the finest craft beers at America's Favorite CraftTime, a craft beer tasting that is presented by Henry J. Lee Distributors. The event is taking place at The Joe prior to Saturday's game, from 3-6 pm. with live bluegrass entertainment and the RiverDogs taking batting practice.
After CraftTime, it's another Kia Country of Charleston Saturday at the ballpark as festivities get started early with the gates opening at 6 pm. Remember that after the game, kids 12-and under can run the bases. There are tons of things to cheer for around Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, but one thing we are definitely not fans here at The Joe is rain. Don't let the bad weather ruin your baseball experience and be one of the first 1,000 fans at the park Saturday to get one of our RiverDogs umbrellas for free. May 23:CCPRC Family Sunday/Junior League of Charleston Book Giveaway/Christian Concert featuring eleventyseven
Every Sunday home game is a Family Sunday and is sponsored by the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission (CCPRC). This Sunday will be packed with fun that ranges from face painting and inflatables to Family Catch on the field prior to the game, and of course there's FREE parking and kids 12-and under eat FREE. Plus, the team will sign autographs after the game. Bring out the kids and Be Your Own FAMILY!
We're doubling the fun this Sunday for all fans of books and reading with "Reading with the RiverDogs" on the concourse prior to the game as well as the Junior League of Charleston supports the Boys and Girls Club Reading Soul Mates's book giveaway. Junior League of Charleston supports the Boys and Girls Club Reading Soul Mates is giving away books to the first 1,000 kids through the gates.
After the game it's our special family friendly Christian concert featuring South Carolina's own eleventyseven. Fans of family fun and rock n' roll will enjoy the trio of boyhood friends as they perform songs from their third studio album "Adventures in Eville" following Sunday's contest. Family Sunday/Book Giveaway/Christian Concert are presented by CCPRC, Junior League of Charleston and WIOP 95.9 FM.
