Tonight: The first-place Gnats play game two of a four-game series against the second-place Augusta GreenJackets. The Gnats own a two game lead over the GreenJackets.

Last Night: The GreenJackets outlasted Savannah in an 18-inning marathon, 1-0. The winning run scored in the bottom of the 18th. With Ryan Lollis at first base, Evan Crawford singled into right field, but Gnats right fielder Cesar Puello could not field the ball cleanly, allowing Lollis to score on the error. Savannah left 15 men on base and was 2-15 with runners in scoring position. The Gnats squandered seven shutout innings from starter Armando Rodriguez, five from Collin McHugh, three from Michael Powers and two from Brandon Sage.

Now Pitching: Mark Cohoon will make his eighth Sand Gnats start of the year. The Gnats are 7-0 in Cohoon's starts and have supported him with 5.1 runs per game, third among Gnats starters. His 1.76 ERA is sixth-best in the SAL and his WHIP of 1.04 is 13th. He spent all of 2009 with Brooklyn in the New York-Penn League where he was 9-2 with a 2.15 ERA in 14 starts. He fanned 70 and walked 20 in 92 innings. His 2.15 ERA was 6th in the League and the Mets recognized him with the team's Sterling Award as the Cyclones' MVP. In 2008 with Savannah, Cohoon was 2-2 with a 3.82 ERA in seven starts after moving directly from the Kingsport Mets, skipping over Brooklyn. The Mets drafted Cohoon in the 12th round of the 2008 draft out of North Central Texas College.

Vs. Augusta: The Gnats are 4-5 against Augusta, 1-3 at home and 3-2 on the road. The series the GreenJackets won from Savannah, April 12-15, is the only series the Gnats have lost this year. The Gnats series record is a sparkling 6-1-2.

That's a Lot of Innings: Last night's 18-inning game was the longest since the beginning of the 2004 season for the Sand Gnats. Relievers Michael Powers and Collin McHugh each set personal season high in innings pitched. The eight innings Augusta's BJ Salsbury threw was the most against Savannah this year by a starting pitcher. It was the second Sunday in a row that the Gnats went at least 15 innings.

Big Flo: Wilmer Flores has hit safely in ten straight games and leads the league in batting average (.364), and OPS (1.008) and is tied for the lead in extra-base hits (22). He's second in slugging (.589) and third in OBP (.418). Over his ten-game hitting streak, the 18-year old Flores is hitting .489 (22-for-45) with five doubles, a triple, two home runs and nine RBI. Flores hit .264/.305/.332 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with three home runs in 125 games for Savannah last year.

Lagares Locked in: Juan Lagares rides an eight-game hitting streak over which time he is 18-for-40 (.450) with three doubles and nine RBI. Lagares leads the SAL in triples with eight; no other hitter has more than five. Lagares is tied for third in the SAL in extra-base hits (21) and is third behind Flores and J.D. Martinez of Lexington in total bases (87). Lagares hit .274/.305/.333 with Savannah last year, his third season in a row with the Gnats that was interrupted by injury.

Close and Late Away: With yesterday's loss, the Gnats fell to 2-5 in one-run games on the road and 1-4 in extra innings on the road.

Pitching In: Savannah leads the SAL with a 2.42 ERA. The Gnats are the only team with an ERA below 3.10. Savannah is second in the league in strikeouts (332) and has allowed the second fewest home runs (14) to Charleston's 12.
