Drive Shutout, 4-0, in Early Morning Game with Legends

LEXINTON, KY - The Drive (19-19) may have missed their early wake-up call Monday in the second game of their series with the Legends (18-20). While Lexington pounded out 14 hits and scoring four runs, the Drive were blanked in the runs category and tallied four hits.

Neither team showed much life through the first two and a half innings in a game that started at 10 AM, until the Legends plated a pair in the bottom of the third. Kody Hinze, who entered hitting .343 against Greenville in nine games thus far, laced an RBI-double for the game's first run. Brian Kemp later added a run-scoring groundout.

Those would be the only runs that Manuel Rivera (2-3) allowed during his 4.0 inning outing, but it was more than enough for the Legends as David Duncan (1-0) tossed 5.0 shutout innings, allowing only one hit in his 2010 debut.

After tossing a shutout frame in his first inning of relief, despite allowing three hits, Jordan Flasher surrendered a leadoff homer by Jose Altuve in the seventh. An inning later, Hinze did the same thing, belting a leadoff homer of his own.

Jeremy Hazelbaker led the Drive offense with a pair of hits, while Ronald Bermudez and Michael Almanzar each had one. All four of Greenville's hits were singles, and only one baserunner reached third.

Dennis Neuman finished the game out of the bullpen for the Drive, allowing two hits in 1.2 scoreless innings. The Legends offense recorded at least one hit in each of their innings at the plate.

The Drive and Legends will meet again tomorrow for game three, the only night game of the series, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM at Applebee's Park. Right-hander Pedro Perez (2-2, 5.40 ERA) will get the call for Greenville, while Lexington counters with right-hander Robby Donovan (2-3, 3.60 ERA).

After their four-game road trip, the Drive return home on Thursday, May 20th. The eight-game homestand will features series' against the Augusta GreenJackets and Charleston RiverDogs.
