Murphy Transferred to Charleston, Lassiter Moved to Extended Spring Training

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Monday that Charleston RiverDogs infielder Garrison Lassiter has been transferred to Extended Spring Training and that catcher J.R. Murphy has been added to the Charleston roster.

Lassiter, a High Point, North Carolina native, appeared in 27 games with the RiverDogs this season, starting 15 games at third base and 12 as designated hitter. The 20-year-old posted a .102 average with nine hits, one double, four RBI and 14 walks.

Murphy, a second-round pick of the Yankees in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, appeared in nine games with the Gulf Coast Yankees in 2009. In his time in the GCL, Murphy batted .333 with 11 hits, two doubles, one home run and seven RBI. The Bradenton, Florida native was tabbed as the No. 8 prospect within the Yankees organization by Baseball America and was previously rated as the fifth-best catcher in the 2009 Draft class by the publication.
