Rome, GA - The Rome Braves swept the Charleston Riverdogs Monday night at State Mutual Stadium 14-6 and 7-4. Game one was the conclusion of a suspended game on Sunday.

After going to the bottom of the third inning down 1-0, the Braves broke out the bats and scored seven runs on six hits. The inning was highlighted by a based loaded, three RBI double by Robert Heffinger. Charleston added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to close the gap to 7-4 but that is a close as they would get as Rome scored six insurance runs in the sixth. Cory Harrilchak had a two RBI single to lead the charge. The Riverdogs added two runs in the seventh but Braves' pitching held the Riverdogs the rest of the way for the 14 -6 final. Luis Avilan (2-1) picks up the victory in relief while Dickson Marquez (0-2) was the loser.

In the second contest of the night, Rome scored four runs in the third inning on a double steal, an RBI single by Cory Harrilchak, and a two RBI single by Jordan Kreke. Charleston got on the scoreboard in the fourth, scoring two runs on a wild throw from Derek Wiley. The Braves added another run in the fifth on a double from Hefflinger to plate Harrilchak for the 5-2 score. The RiverDogs scored twice in the sixth when J.R. Murphy doubled to score Robert Lyerly, and was later brought home on an RBI groundout from Emerson Landoni. Rome put the game away in the sixth on a two run homerun from Christian Bethancourt (2) for the 7-4 final. Robinson Lopez (2-1) picks up his second win for Rome while Jairo Heredia (1-1) gets the loss for Charleston. Dalton Acord picks up his first save of the season.

The Braves and RiverDogs play again tomorrow morning at 10:30AM. For ticket information, contact the Rome Braves at 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
