SUNDAY: West Virginia opened its season series against Delmarva with an 8-4 victory. The Power plated two runs in the first inning against Shorebirds starter Ryan Berry on a solo home run and a bases loaded infield single. Delmarva took the lead in the fourth on a three-run home run by Tyler Kolodny, but the Power scored five runs in the home half of the inning to regain the advantage for good. Rogelio Noris hit his fifth home run of the year to key the attack and finished the game with three hits to lead all players. Jason Erickson earned his third win in relief.

STROKIN': Rogelio Noris has hit a team-high five home runs this season, and four of those have come at Appalachian Power Park. Noris hit home runs in three straight home games from May 6 though 8 against Greensboro and Kannapolis, respectively. Noris' only other home run was on April 25 in a 10-6 game one win at Kannapolis.

BETTER HERE AGAINST THE BIRDS: West Virginia is 26-32 all-time against Delmarva heading into this season's first meeting between the clubs. The Power took the 2009 set 8-3, and have fared better at Appalachian Power Park. The Power have a 18-14 edge at home, but have lost 18 of 26 on the road in the all-time series. 13 of this season's 18 games against Delmarva are at Appalachian Power Park.

MOVIN' ON UP: Victor Black was added to the Power roster Sunday and made his South Atlantic League in the Power's win over Delmarva. Black was selected in the supplemental portion of the first round during the 2009 draft from Dallas Baptist University. Black replaced Hunter Strickland on the West Virginia roster. Strickland was promoted to the Bradenton Marauders Sunday morning. The right-hander was 0-4 with the Power this season and sported a 5.86 ERA.

SMALL STREAKS: West Virginia looks to win its third straight game when they take on the Shorebirds tonight. The Power have not won three straight at any point this season, but have strung together two consecutive wins on five different occasions. In their attempts to win a third straight game, West Virginia has lost by 3-2, 6-3, 5-0, 9-3, and 4-0 final scores.

FREEMAN GONE/ GONZALEZ HERE: Wes Freeman was sent to the GCL Pirates roster earlier today and Elevys Gonzalez was promoted from the Gulf Coast League. Gonzalez was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2008 and split time last year between the GCL Pirates and State College.

POWER POINTS: The Power played in their first extra inning game of the season on Saturday. West Virginia was the only team in the league who had not played an extra inning game this season prior their 7-6 ten inning win... West Virginia is 13-0 when scoring five or more run in a game this year and 3-20 when scoring four or less.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 4-3 at Chicago. The Cubs scored three late runs to snap the Pirates two game winning streak... Indianapolis lost in walk-off fashion 6-5 at Toledo... Altoona staved off Richmond 7-6... Bradenton beat Dunedin 3-2. Eric Fryer drove in all three Marauder runs with a fourth inning three run homer.
