Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - With the PGA Championship being held this week at the famed Ocean Course at nearby Kiawah Island, the Charleston RiverDogs are bringing golf activities to Riley Park over the course of their four-game homestand against the Hagerstown Suns. If you're worried about the traffic getting to Kiawah, or looking for something to do after the golf each day, come on out to The Joe.
An unnamed source in the RiverDogs clubhouse has extended a challenge to anyone named Tiger, Phil, Rory, or Ernie who wants to participate in a closest-to-the-pin chipping challenge on the field prior to each game of the homestand. RiverDogs players, coaches and one lucky fan selected at random will square off in the chipping challenge before all fours game's against Hagerstown. The winner of the challenge each day receives a prize pack.
Anyone who brings a 2012 PGA Championship ticket or merchandise to the RiverDogs Box Office between August 8 and August 11 can purchase a ticket for only $5 to the game that day.
"We're really excited for the PGA Championship to be held here in the Lowcountry," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "We're glad we can bring a golf flavor to our upcoming homestand to celebrate one of golf's four majors that is taking place in our backyard."
The *Get Golf Ready Family Fun Zone Tour *will be set up for fans to enjoy at all four RiverDogs games Wednesday, Aug. 8 through Saturday, Aug. 11. The Tour features a multitude of *Get Golf Ready* experiences, plus PGA Sports Academy activities and games like a practice putting green, irons and woods-hitting areas, Kwik Golf, short-game activities featuring Golf-zilla and more.
The Tour is free for all ages and abilities, and will be set-up for fans to enjoy from the time gates open until the end of the game each night. PGA and LPGA professionals will be in attendance to provide instruction, demonstrations and hosting the games to ensure everyone has a blast.
Everyone who stops by the *Get Golf Ready Family Fun Zone Tour *will have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the 94th PGA Championship at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Participants may also register for the PGA Championship Play, Scan & Win sweepstakes which features a variety of prizes. Plenty of *Get Golf Ready *prizes, gifts and golf information will be available.
