Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - After a 23 minute rain delay, the Rome Braves were defeated by the Greensboro Grasshoppers 4-1 Wednesday night before 1,655 fans.
Pitching was the name of the game for both clubs until the sixth inning when Greensboro posted two runs on the board. James Wooster and Brent Keys each had RBI doubles giving the Grasshoppers the 2-0 lead. Greensboro struck again in the eighth with two more runs thanks to a two run double by Matt Smith making it a 4-0 game. Rome put their only run of the game on the board in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Kubitza for the 4-1 final.
Jose Urena (8-5) gets the win for Greensboro while Rome's Greg Ross (4-7) is the losing pitcher giving up four runs on four hits.
