
GreenJackets Slip Past Shorebirds, 3-2

Salisbury, Md. - The Augusta GreenJackets (22-23) scored a run in the ninth inning to defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds (17-27), 3-2 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Shorebirds struck first in the second inning. Mikey Planeta lined a one out triple past the diving center fielder Jesus Galindo. Two batters later, Adam Davis singled into left field to give the Shorebirds a 1-0 lead.
Augusta quickly tied the game at 1-1. In the third, Kelby Tomlinson doubled and scored on a two out hit to center field by Shawn Payne.
The GreenJackets tallied a run in the fourth to grab a 2-1 lead. Brett Krill singled to open the inning and moved to third base on two wild pitches. He scored on a push bunt down the first baseline by Tomlinson.
The Shorebirds, who went hitless between the third and seventh innings, scored the tying run in the eighth inning. Roderick Bernadina hit a single into center field. He advanced to third on back-to-back walks. Then, Michael Ohlman was hit on the helmet to force in the tying run.
The GreenJackets responded to grab the lead back in the ninth inning. Tomlinson hit a two out single. Then, on a hit and run, Jesus Galindo lined a single into right-center field and Tomlinson turned around third and scored as Bernadina misplayed the ball in right-center.
Shorebirds starter Williams Louico lasted five innings and gave up five hits and two runs.
Left-hander Eric Wooten tossed four strong innings, but was pinned with the loss. Wooten retired the first 11 batters he faced before falling into trouble in the ninth inning.
GreenJackets starter Kyle Crick was dominant over 6.2 innings. He allowed three hits and one run. Crick struck out ten batters and walked just one.
Augusta's third pitcher Kyle Vazquez earned the win over two-thirds of an inning.
