The Charleston triumph spoiled an incredible performance by Rome's starter, 18-year-old dynamo Julio Teheran, who retired the first 18 batters he faced in six perfect innings. The Colombia native walked Jose Pirela to lead-off the seventh to break up perfection, but he did not allow a hit in the frame to keep the no-hitter intact. Altogether, Teheran threw seven hitless innings with one walk and seven strikeouts in the no-decision.

Angelo Paulino followed to keep the RiverDogs hitless until the 10th, when Abraham Almonte notched Charleston's first hit by doubling to centerfield, which increased his hitting streak to 24 games.

Charleston's Cory Arbiso tossed three-hit ball over six innings without allowing a run in taking his fifth consecutive no-decision. The former Cal State-Fullerton Titan struck out six Braves while walking none.

Andrew Brackman kept the zero's coming throwing three scoreless frames in relief of Arbiso allowing just one hit with two strikeouts, and got help defensively on a fabulous full-extension diving catch by second baseman Joseph with two outs in the ninth inning. Edwin Walker two innings of no-run baseball surrendering three hits but sporting four strikeouts.

All told, Charleston pitchers struck out 13 Braves, while keeping Rome without a run over the final 33 innings of the series.

The RiverDogs return home Thursday for the final homestand of the season, a five-game series against the Savannah Sand Gnats, a New York Mets affiliate. While Charleston has yet to announce its starter for game one, the Sand Gnats plan to throw right-hander Kyle Allen (9-6, 3.59 ERA).
