
River Rats' Teddy Bear Toss to Benefit Ronald McDonald House

Albany N.Y. â The Albany River Rats today announced it will close its Holiday Toy Drive with a "Teddy Bear Toss" during its Saturday, December 19th game against the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Pepsi Arena. Fans are encouraged to bring unwrapped plush toys to the 7:00pm game and throw them on to the rink during one of the game's intermissions. All toys collected that night will be donated to Ronald McDonald House as holiday presents for the children and families they serve.
"The River Rats have always been committed to serving the needs of the children in our community, and this Toy Drive for Ronald McDonald House is an important part of those efforts," said River Rats President /CEO S. Garen Szablewski. "We're very pleased to have the support of our players, staff and fans this year to help make the Holidays special for the kids who need that the most."
In addition to the Teddy Bear Toss, the River Rats will continue to collect new and unwrapped toys at each of the Pepsi Arena entrances during it's home games on December 17th & 19th. Fans that bring unwrapped toys or stuffed animals to the December 19th game will receive a raffle ticket for each toy donated. Raffle tickets will be drawn during the game for autographed merchandise and other great prizes.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region provides comfort, support, and respite for families of seriously ill children. The organization provides a home-like environment with the Ronald McDonald House of Albany and the Family Room in the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center, and awards grants to various programs in the community that strive to enhance the lives of children.
The Albany River Rats, in their 11th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils.
