December 15, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League announced today that St. John's Maple Leafs left wing Harold Druken has been named the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 14, 2003. Druken returned to St. John's and tallied nine points in four games last week, helping the Leafs keep pace in the AHL's North Division.
Druken, 24, rejoined the St. John's lineup on Tuesday after spending most of the previous month with the parent Toronto Maple Leafs, and recorded a goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime victory over Rochester at Mile One Stadium. A night later, Druken tallied an assist and a plus-2 rating as the Leafs downed the Americans again, 5-1. He scored the game-winning goal and assisted on two others in a 6-1 romp over Binghamton on Friday, and capped the week with a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Senators on Saturday, extending his personal scoring streak to 10 games (10g, 10a).
In recognition of his achievement, Druken will receive a Sher-Wood leather jacket, presented to him during an on-ice ceremony prior to an upcoming game. In addition, Sher-Wood will donate five travel bags to the St. John's AAA Maple Leafs in Druken's name.
A second-round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Druken is in his fifth pro season, and his first full campaign in his hometown of St. John's. He played in the AHL All-Star Classic as a rookie in 2000, and has totaled 40 goals and 57 assists for 97 points in 100 career AHL contests with St. John's, Lowell, Manitoba and Syracuse.
