Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY - Goaltender Justin Peters stopped all 36 shots faced to earn his first shutout of the season and the sixth of his career, as the River Rats defeated the Hershey Bears 3-0 Friday night at the Times Union Center.

Jacob Micflikier assisted on all three River Rats goals, and Nick Dodge and Chris Terry each scored a goal and an assist to lead Albany to its fifth-straight win. The Rive Rats, who have earned points in their last seven games, look to extend their win-streak Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. when they take-on the Providence Bruins at the Times Union Center.

Albany controlled the opening period and out-shot the Bears 15-5 en route to a 2-0 lead. Line-mates Chris Terry, Nick Dodge and Jacob Micflikier accounted for both River Rats tallies. Terry struck first at 7:41, when Micflikier batted Dodge's rebound across the net-mouth for an open put-away. The line doubled-up with 13.7 seconds remaining, on a close-range bullet to the top-shelf from Dodge; Micflikier and Terry assisted on Dodge's seventh of the season.

The River Rats maintained pressure early in the second period with a pair of breakaway chances from forwards Brad Herauf and Micklikier, but Bears goalie Jason Bacashihua denied both attempts with matching kick saves. Keith Aucoin gave Hershey its best scoring chance of the night with a breakaway at 7:20, but Albany goalie Justin Peters stoned the former River Rats captain's deke with a sliding leg save.

Albany was in penalty trouble for most of the third period, but four impressive Bears power plays only set the stage for Peters to continue his dominant play in goal, as he turned aside 19 shots in the final frame. Micflikier registered his third assist of the night in the closing seconds of the game, finding Mike Angelidis for an empty-net tally at 19:38.

Peters earned his 10th win of the season as Albany improved to 15-10-1-2 this season. Bacashihua stopped 23-of-25 shots faced and took the loss as the Bears fell to 17-8-0-2 this year. Hershey out-shot the River Rats 36-26 in the game and went 0-for-7 on the power play; Albany was 1-for-5 on the man-advantage.
