Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that they have recalled defenseman Jared Ross from the ECHL's Reading Royals. With the move, the P-Bruins have 25 players on their active roster, including 14 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.
Ross, 25, is up in the AHL for the second time this season after spending time with the P-Bruins from October 10-25. In that time, the rookie defenseman appeared in his first six career regular season games, going scoreless. Since, Ross has suited up for 20 contests for the Royals, totaling three goals, two assists and 29 penalty minutes. He scored his first professional goal in a two-goal contest versus the South Carolina Stingrays on November 8. His first pro assist came against the Trenton Devils on November 14.
Prior to turning pro, the undrafted Ross spent four seasons with the St. Lawrence University Saints, where he recorded 48 points (22g, 26a) in 134 collegiate games. The Stony Island, Nova Scotia, native later made his pro debut during the 2009 ECHL playoffs following the conclusion of his senior season, tallying one assist in two playoff games for the Elmira Jackals. Ross signed an AHL contract with Providence on August 11 and participated in the P-Bruins' training camp this season before being assigned to Reading.
The P-Bruins are back in action tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center against the Lowell Devils at 7:05 p.m. for Rhode Island Reds Winter Hat Night. On Saturday, the club travels to New York to take on the Albany River Rats at 7 p.m. before returning home to host the Manchester Monarchs on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game. Fans can buy one ticket, hot dog and soda for one low price.
