Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Lowell Devils 3-0 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Craig Weller, Zach Hamill and Kirk MacDonald. Dany Sabourin recorded his first shutout of the season stopping all 35 shots he faced. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game against the Manchester Monarchs.
The P-Bruins took the 1-0 lead at the 6:25 mark of the opening period. Guillaume Lefebvre picked up the puck behind the net and left it along the near boards for Hamill. He found Weller at the right face off circle, who tallied his first goal of the season. The P-Bruins led 1-0 at the first intermission.
Providence grabbed a 2-0 advantage at the 14:32 mark of the second period. MacDonald worked the puck up the boards for Hamill. He passed it to Jeff LoVecchio who sent it back to Hamill. He was open on the right side of the net and tipped it in for his third goal of the season. The P-Bruins took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins added an empty net goal at the 19:33 mark of the third period. Hamill sent the puck from his own to MacDonald in the neutral zone, who netted his seventh goal of the season. The P-Bruins went on to the 3-0 victory.
Jeff Frazee made 31 saves for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Saturday Providence heads back on the road to take on the Albany River Rats at the Times Union Center at 7:00 p.m., before wrapping up the weekend Sunday at The Dunk against the Monarchs at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game.
