IceHogs In Texas Tonight, Recall Palmer

Cedar Park, Tex.- After three straight losses at the Rockford MetroCentre against the Texas Stars, the Rockford IceHogs will try their luck on the road against the West Division's first place team.

Tonight the IceHogs and Stars square off at the Cedar Park Center at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard on 1330 AM WNTA or on-line by clicking here.

The game is the fourth of eight on the season between the two clubs, but first of four in Texas. Rockford's comeback attempt was stopped short in the team's last match-up at the MetroCentre on Nov. 21 as Texas topped Rockford 4-3 in overtime.

Rockford has won three straight on the road entering play tonight and five of their last six games overall. Rockford's last road loss came on Nov. 6 in Abbotsford. Tonight's game also features the top two teams in the West Division standings.

Kyle Greentree comes into the game riding an IceHogs season high seven game point streak. The winger's streak dates back to Nov. 25 and he has totaled six goals and three assists during it.

Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 18 vs. Chicago Wolves. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs welcome the rival Chicago Wolves into the Rockford MetroCentre for their seventh of ten meetings on the 2009-10 season. The first 2,500 fans will pick up an IceHogs Christmas Stocking courtesy of the Rockford Park District and WXRX.

Puckstopper earns first professional call up

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Thursday that the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs have recalled goalie Joe Palmer from the Texas Brahmas (CHL).

Palmer, 21, is fourth in the Central Hockey League with a 2.54 goals against average and has a 6-3-2 record with a.912 save percentage in 13 appearances with the Brahmas.

The Yorkville, New York native is in his first professional season after three years at the Ohio State University. He was the #96 overall (round 4) pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

The netminder joined the IceHogs on Friday in Cedar Park, Texas where the team is playing their first of three games in the state of Texas on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
