March 16, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today the American Hockey League club will wear specially designed Jerseys when they face the Philadelphia Phantoms Sunday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m. at the Times Union Center. For the third consecutive season, the jerseys will be auctioned off to fans following the game with all proceeds to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The jersey auction will begin approximately 10 minutes after the game. The fan with the winning bid on each jersey will be invited on to the ice to receive it from the River Rats player who wore it during the game. The auctions have raised over $40,000 during the previous two events with more than $22,000 from last year's auction.

The River Rats in association with the Ronald McDonald House designed the jerseys, which feature McDonald's primary colors of red and yellow, the Carolina signature "hurricane-warning" trim at the bottom, diagonal Albany lettering across the chest and complete with a retro neck tie. Front and back images of the jersey are posted at the bottom of this release.

"We are looking forward to this year's Ronald McDonald House Jersey Auction," said Jeff Yule, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region. "The River Rats have been major supporters of House for over a decade through countless visits to seriously-ill children by players, and the club's mascot Rowdy, to the House and our Family Room at Albany Medical Center. Their dedication to our mission was in full view in February of this year, when, just a few days after their terrible bus accident, River Rats players made a visit to the House that Love Built, to lend a hand, and meet some very special children. We are humbled by the support of the team's ownership, management, players as well as their dedicated fans and for that we salute the River Rats organization presenting the 2009 Ronald McDonald House Jersey Auction."

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, Inc. provides comfort, support and respite for families of seriously ill children in a compassionate and home-like environment through the operation of the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald House Family Room in the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.

In addition, Ronald McDonald House Charities operates The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in partnership with St. Peter's Health Care Services and also awards grants to program in the community that enhance the lives of children. The Ronald McDonald regional chapter supports a house on Lake Avenue in Albany, just blocks from the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center.
