River Otters Dust Outlaws, 5-2

December 10, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Missouri River Otters News Release

Chris Bell scored two goals as the Missouri River Otters cruised to a 5-2 victory Friday night against Kansas City at the Kemper Arena.

In a fight-filled first period, the River Otters took the lead on a great play. Bob Rapoza sent an outlet pass to Charlie Blyth on the right wing, and the Otters forward had a two-on-one with Bell. Blyth sent a terrific pass across to Bell, who beat Outlaws goaltender Maxime Gingras with a top-shelf re-direction.

Missouri took command of the game in the middle period. After allowing a goal to Kansas City's Jimmy Callahan, the River Otters scored three straight goals. Mark Odut fired home his team-leading ninth goal of the season on a partial breakaway to put the Otters on top 2-1. Minutes later, Quinten Van Horlick deflected a Rapoza shot from the point to extend the Otters lead to three. The final goal of the period came off the stick of Bell, who took a great pass from Justin Quenneville and put home his own rebound behind Gingras.

Kansas City struck first in the final period, as Jason Ruff picked up a loose puck in front of the net and rifled it home. That was the final tally of the game for the Outlaws, however, and Barrie Moore added an insurance goal to give the Otters a 5-2 win. Mat Snesrud collected an assist for the fifth consecutive game, and Kevin Reiter made 30 saves for his sixth victory of the season.

The River Otters host Fort Wayne Saturday night at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 and the B2 webcast at www.riverotters.com.
