Danbury Trashers News Release

Former Trasher Jim Duhart scored a 1st period goal with an assist, while teammate and former Dallas Stars forward Rob Valicevic tallied a pair of goals in the initial period as the Generals used a quick start to defeat Danbury 4-3 on Friday night from Perani's Hockey World.

Despite falling behind 3-0 after the first period, the Trashers fought hard and stayed in the game after Mike Bayrack scored at the 12:09 mark of the 2nd period from Mario Larocque to cut the Generals lead to 3-1. However, Chad Grills scored his 2nd of the season from Jason Selleke and Bobby Kulkulka at the 16:48 mark of the period in what would turn out to be the game-winning goal.

Jeff Daw would score the first of two 3rd period goals at the 1:25 mark of the period from Larocque and Doug Christensen and the other at the 15:44 mark of the period from Blake Bellefeuille and Bruce Richardson—both power play goals.

Danbury had a golden opportunity to score another 3rd period goal when they had a full two-minute, two-man power play advantage that started at the 3:23 mark of the final period, but Marco Emond made several stellar saves to prevent a goal that could have ended up forcing a shootout.

Guillaume Lavallee started and stopped 23 of 27 shots on net for the Trashers, while Emond turned away 33 of 36 shots on goal. The Trashers maintain a three-point lead in the Eastern Division following an Adirondack loss to Richmond on Friday night.

The Trashers return to the ice on Saturday night at 7:30pm from Wings Stadium as they travel to Kalamazoo for the first time this season. Fans can tune into the game with Phil Giubileo at DanburyTrashers.com.
