Motor City Mechanics News Release

Fort Wayne, Ind – The Motor City Mechanics took on the Fort Wayne Komets tonight for the second time this season. A goal in each period gave the Komets a 3-0 win over Motor City despite the Mechanics strong play.

The Komets opened the scoring midway through the first period when a Danny Stewart shot hit the cross bar and fluttered in. Mechanics forward Matt Hunter was awarded a penalty shot with 30 seconds remaining in the first period but Ft. Wayne netminder Tyler Masters made the save to keep the Mechanics off the board.

The Komets jumped ahead to a two goal lead just 40 seconds into the second period. Despite outshooting the Mechanics 14-4 in the period, the Mechanics were able to keep Fort Wayne to just one goal in the period.

Colin Chaulk took advantage of a Jason Silverthorn penalty and gave the Komets a commanding 3-0 lead at the 3:39 mark of the third. Fort Wayne held the Mechanics off for the remainder of the game for the shutout.

The Mechanics return home to The Garage on Sunday, December 12th to face the Danbury Trashers for the first time this season. Sunday's game will feature Metro-Detroit's Promise Night, The Magic of Misty Lee and Holiday Pucks to the first 500 fans. The puck drops at 7:30 pm and will be broadcast on 1310 AM WXDX.
