Missouri River Otters News Release

The Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Missouri River Otters 7-2 Saturday night at Wings Stadium. The River Otters allowed a team-record 59 shots in the loss and goaltender Corey Wogtech tied a team record with 52 saves in his River Otters debut.

The River Otters jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Steve Makway intercepted a K-Wings clearing attempt, skated the puck to the high-slot, and buried a wrister above the outstretched glove of Jeff Reynaert. Kalamazoo tied the game seven minutes later when Jeff Antonovich scored his first goal of the season and they took a 2-1 lead two minutes after that when Dustin Virag took a great pass from Jason Deitsch and fired a shot between the legs of Corey Wogtech. The River Otters tied the game three minutes into the second period when Scott Dobben scored his third goal in the last two games, but Kalamazoo regained their one-goal advantage when Damian Surma scored a power-play goal. The K-Wings exploded in the third period with goals from Virag, Nick Bootland, Lucas Drake and Daniel Carriere. Reynaert made 23 saves in the victory while Wogtech tied a River Otters team record with 52 saves in the loss.

The River Otters host the Rockford Sunday at the Family Arena. The puck drops at 4:00 CST, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM and the B2 Networks, located at www.riverotters.com.
