Collymore and Grover each score two as the Trashers win 5-2

DANBURY, CT--Shawn Collymore and Donny Grover each scored a pair of goals as the Danbury Trashers rebounded from two one-goal deficits to defeat Roanoke Valley 5-2 on Saturday night at the Danbury Ice Arena.

For the first time on Roanoke's road trip, the Vipers took a 1-0 lead as Mark Scott banged in a rebound off a Mike Wiggins shot at 7:11 to give the Vipers an early 1-0 lead, which was quickly tied 51 seconds later on the first of Collymore's two goals. The Vipers regained the lead at the 18:05 mark on a Matt Elich goal, but Collymore tied the score again with a rebound goal at 19:59.

Danbur never looked back after the first period as Grover netted his first at 13:48 for the only goal in the second period to give the Trashers a 3-2 lead.

In the final period, Drew Omicioli's tallied his 38th of the season at the 7:44 mark, while Grover scored his second at 8:57 to give Danbury a 3-goal lead.

Jayme Platt started and won his second straight with a 24 save performance, while Shawn Conschafter stopped 21 of 26 in Roanoke's 40th loss of the season. Danbury improves to 38-15-11 with the win and maintains a lead on Adirondack of eight points for first place in the UHL East.
