TACOMA, Wash. - Derek Norris and Jake Goebbert each homered for the second-straight game to help the River Cats beat the Tacoma Rainiers by a score of 9-6 in the final game of the 2013 season.
The Rainiers got out to an early three-run lead after one inning, but Sacramento pushed four runs across the plate in the second. Goebbert's second-inning bomb brought Hiro Nakajima home to score before Addison Russell collected the first Triple-A hit of his career. The 19-year-old phenom came around to score on a throwing error, giving Sacramento its 4-3 lead. They never looked back, cruising to a 9-6 victory.
Norris went 2-for-5 with a run, an RBI and a home run, giving him five hits in three games with Sacramento. Russell went 1-for-5 with four strikeouts and a run scored in the last game of his Triple-A debut. Anthony Aliotti went 3-for-5, and Dusty Coleman went 2-for-4.
Arnold Leon was awarded the win for his five innings of four-run ball. Brian Gordon saved his 23rd game of the year-the most in a season by any single player in River Cats franchise history.
The River Cats led the Pacific Coast League in attendance, welcoming 607,329 fans through the Raley Field gats for an average of 8,435 fans per game. The team's six sellouts this season give them 78 all time.
