September 2, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Padres News Release
Cody Decker's go-ahead RBI single in the ninth gave the Tucson Padres to a 3-2 victory over the Las Vegas 51s Sunday at Cashman Field. The win was the 3000th in the city of Tucson's history at the Triple-A level.
The Padres went ahead 1-0 in the second on Jonathan Galvez's RBI fielder's choice to third. Las Vegas catcher Francisco Pena lined an RBI single to left in the fourth to even the score at one. Ben Francisco put Tucson back in front in the sixth with a two-out RBI double to left-center field gap.
The 51s retied the game in the seventh on Eric Campbell's pinch-hit RBI double off the top of the left field wall. Las Vegas had runners on the corners with two outs in the eighth, but Brad Brach struck out Pena to end the threat. Scott Moore walked to lead of the ninth and moved up to second base on Jonathan Galvez's sacrifice bunt. Decker's single to left brought home Moore to hand the Padres a 3-2 lead. Miles Mikolas converted his 25th save of the season in the ninth to finish off the win for the Padres.
Brach won his fourth game of the year, while reliever D.J. Mitchell took the loss for the 51s. Tucson stating pitcher Jason Lane tossed seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. The left-hander retired nine of 11 to start the game and went 3-for-3 at the plate. Dean Anna did not play Sunday, but still leads the Pacific Coast League in hitting with a .333 average. Anna's clip is three points higher than Fresno's Kensuke Tanaka with one game remaining in the season.
