River Cats Return Home Tomorrow for Six-Game Homestand

THE RIVER CATS: The River Cats (first place, PCL South) will return to Raley Field for a six-game homestand (Las Vegas, Tucson) from July 4-9. Sacramento returns home from its current roadtrip with the best record in the Pacific Coast League, and the club is leading all Minor League Baseball clubs in home runs. Probable Rotation: RHP Justin Duchscherer (Friday), RHP Mike Wood (Saturday), RHP Rich Harden (Sunday), RHP Frank Castillo (Monday), RHP Erik Hiljus (Tuesday), RHP Justin Duchscherer (Wednesday).

THE LAS VEGAS 51s: The Las Vegas 51s (second place, PCL South) come to town five-and-a-half games (as of Thursday) behind Sacramento in the PCL's South Division. They bring to town the league's third-best offense (.288) and fourth-best pitching staff (3.91). This series will be a homecoming for former Sacramento City College star Joe Thurston, now a second baseman for Las Vegas. Las Vegas' roster includes outfielders Chin-Feng Chen and Bubba Crosby (two of the Dodgers' biggest prospects) and former River Cats pitcher Bryan Corey (2000). Probable Rotation: RHP Scott Winchester (Friday), LHP Lindsay Gulin (Saturday), RHP Mike Saipe (Sunday).

THE TUCSON SIDEWINDERS: The Tucson Sidewinders (third place, PCL South) will come to town Monday to begin a three-game series against the Cats. Tucson is 13-6 (as of Thursday) this season against teams in the PCL South. Led by infielder Mike Bell, the Sidewinders have the league's fifth-best offense (.286). Probable Rotation: TBA.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION (Red, White & Blue Jerseys): Friday (July 4), the River Cats will host an Independence Day Celebration at Raley Field. During each of the games during the series against Las Vegas, Sacramento will wear special Red, White and Blue uniforms. Additionally, pregame festivities and between-inning promotions on Friday will have a patriotic flair. Pregame festivities will include a flyover, and the River Cats will host a giant fireworks show following the game (courtesy of Sutter Health).

RIVER CATS ALL-STARS RECOGNIZED: The River Cats players selected to participate in the Triple-A All-Star Game (July 16 in Memphis) will be recognized during a postgame ceremony on Friday. The three River Cats players that will represent Sacramento in the Triple-A All-Star Game are pitchers Rich Harden and Justin Duchscherer and first baseman Dave McCarty.

SUTTER HEALTH FIREWORKS/TECATE FIESTA SATURDAY: After the River Cats play the Las Vegas 51s on Saturday night, the team will light the skies with fireworks, courtesy of Sutter Health. Also, it will be a Tecate Fiesta Saturday at Raley Field. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to enjoy Latin music, dancers and decorations.

US BANK KIDS' NIGHT: Every Sunday at Raley Field is a US Bank Kids' Night. All kids in attendance will have the opportunity to enjoy a petting zoo, face painters, balloon artists and the Radio Disney Extreme Team. Additionally, all kids will get a chance to run the bases after the game.

RIVER CATS FOUNDATION, CHECK PRESENTATIONS: The following check presentations will be made during pregame ceremonies (on behalf of the River Cats Foundation). WAVE Camp (July 5), SAY Golf (July 6), Safetyville (July 9).

BALLPARK BEACH PARTY: Wednesday, the River Cats will host a "Ballpark Beach Party" at Raley Field. Fans are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and "beach clothes." River Cats players will wear "special" themed jerseys during the game. All festivities at the ballpark will have a beach theme.

CATS ON THE RADIO: All six games during the upcoming homestand will be broadcast on Talk 650 KSTE (English) and La Vaquera 1240 AM (Spanish). Johnny Doskow will call all the action in English, while Jose Reynoso does the games in Spanish.
