Topolski turns tables on Diablos
July 3, 2003 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Round Rock Express News Release
Tuesday night, Josh Kroeger broke the heart of the Round Rock Express in the bottom of the ninth. Wednesday night, Jon Topolski got a measure of revenge for the Express in the top of the ninth.
Topolski hit a pinch-hit home run with two outs in the ninth to give Round Rock a 4-3 win over the El Paso Diablos in front of 1,510 at Cohen Stadium.
Reliever Jay Belflower had little problems getting the first two outs, bringing in Topolski to pinch hit for pitcher Tim McClaskey. He then took a Belflower pitch over the center field wall to break the 3-3 tie.
The only downside was that Greg Powell again failed to get the win. A start after throwing nine shutout innings in a no decision, Powell went 6.2 innings and gave up three runs - only on earned - on nine hits. McClaskey and Eric Cammack took over after that, throwing 2.1 perfect innings.
Outside of Topolski, the Express lineup was led by Chris Burke, Jacques Landry, Anthony Acevedo and Michael Rosamond who each had multi-hit games.
McClaskey (1-0) recorded his first win with Round Rock and Cammack got his second save. Belflower (3-1) took his first loss of the year.
Game three of a four game series is Thurday at 8 p.m.
