Sacramento River Cats News Release

West Sacramento, Calif. - With Thursday's game suspended due to inclement weather, the River Cats and Sky Sox played 13 innings of baseball on Friday at Security Service Field, with Colorado Springs winning the first game 12-4 and Sacramento winning the second game 11-2.

Game one began on Thursday and was suspended in the top of the fourth inning due to a hail storm and tornado warnings with the Cats trailing 2-1. The two teams battled back and forth when the game resumed on Friday until the Sky Sox lashed out for seven runs in the seventh inning, taking a 12-4 lead for good. Grant Green led Sacramento's offensive attack, going 3-for-5 with a run scored. LHP Fabio Castro suffered the loss, starting the second portion of the game on Friday, giving up three runs in two innings.

Game two started at about 6:45 on Friday with Manny Ramirez starting at DH and batting third. Starter A.J. Griffin threw a seven-inning complete game for his first win of the season, giving up three hits, zero walks and two unearned runs with eight strikeouts. Ramirez, who was making his first appearance since June 2, finished 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a double - his first professional extra-base hit since September 25, 2010.

Neither team scored a run in game two until the sixth inning, when the Cats put four on the board beginning with an RBI-single from Ramirez. The Cats then scored seven in the top of the seventh, putting them ahead 11-0. The Sky Sox scored two unearned runs in the final frame, but fell short, ultimately losing 11-2.

Stephen Parker finished game two having gone 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Four different Cats had multiple hits.

Saturday's game will feature River Cats RHP Tyson Ross (1-1, 3.38 ERA) taking on Sky Sox RHP Carlos Torres (2-1, 2.45 ERA) at 5:05 p.m. at Security Service Field.
