Tucson Padres News Release

Trevor Bauer struck out 11 in seven shutout innings, picking up the win Friday in Reno's 4-0 victory over the Tucson Padres. Bauer combined with Takashi Saito and Mike DeMark on a five-hit shutout. It was the fourth time the Padres have been held without a run in 2012. Bauer's 11 strikeouts matched his career high.

Reno scored once in the second inning on a surprise RBI bunt single by Jake Elmore with two outs. The Aces added single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings on a sacrifice fly by Elmore, an RBI single by Taylor Harbin and a wild pitch by Tucson reliever Eddie Kunz. The Padres had just one extra base hit in the game, a double by Anthony Contreras in the sixth inning.

Tucson starter Kip Wells walked seven in 5.1 innings and suffered his second loss with Tucson. In his first four starts with Tucson, Wells had never walked more than two hitters in an outing. Eddie Kunz and Josh Spence threw a scoreless outing each for Tucson.
