WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento River Cats (71-55) lost 2-0 to the Portland Beavers (71-55) on Thursday at Raley Field, snapping their three-game winning streak. With the loss and Tucson's win against Las Vegas, Sacramento's magic number remains at 12 with 18 games remaining.

RHP Mike Ziegler (2-6) took the loss for Sacramento, despite a strong pitching performance. Ziegler allowed 2 ER in the first inning then settled down to hold Portland scoreless over the next six innings. RHP Chad Bradford yielded just 1 H in his inning of work (MLB rehab assignment). RHP Dennis Tankersley (7-4) earned the win, allowing no runs on 3 H in 6.2 IP. RHP Marty McLeary picked up his 13th save for Portland.

The Beavers did their damage with a first-inning two-run home run by 2B Ramon Vazquez. Sacramento managed just 4 H in the game.

Sacramento and Portland will play the final game of their four-game series on Friday (7:05 pm) at Raley Field.
