Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

There were strange things happening at Sky Sox Stadium on Thursday night. A scheduled 6:05 doubleheader became one nine-inning game that began at 7:30. The star of the night was supposed to be lefty sensation Jeff Francis but he had a night to forget. Sox reliver Travis Driskill picked up his first save of the year in a 14-run blowout win. After a day of rain and cold, the Sky Sox bats came alive to the tune of 21 runs and 25 hits en route to defeating the New Orleans Zephyrs 21-7. Francis' much anticipated start fizzled early for the young Canadian as he allowed 3 runs in the 1st and 4 in the 3rd in easily his worst outing of his Sky Sox career. The Sox' offense came to Francis' rescue, with every position player that had an at bat picking up a hit. Leftfielder Shawn Garrett finished the night 5-6 with a double, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Andy Tracy also broke out of his recent slump going 3-5 with a double, a grand slam home run and 4 runs scored. The Sox and Z's will play two on Friday night beginning at 5:05. Friday Night Fireworks will follow game two.
