WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento River Cats (6-8) beat the Salt Lake Stingers (11-3) by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday at Raley Field.
RHP Steve Woodard (3-0) earned the win for the River Cats, allowing just 2 ER on 7 H in 7.0 IP. RHP Chris Bootcheck (1-2) took the loss for Salt Lake. He allowed 5 ER on 5 H in 3.1 IP.
1B Dan Johnson and LF Matt Watson each had 2 H for Sacramento. Watson led the Cats' offense with 3 RBI. The River Cats jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a four-run second inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Watson.
The River Cats and Stingers will play the third game of their four-game series on Thursday at 7:05 pm at Raley Field.
