London Rippers News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO - A Mark Samuelson grand slam in the bottom of the 8th launched the London Rippers (17-24) to a 9-8 win over Washington (14-26).

Matt Wright singled to start the 8th, Shane Bagley got aboard on a throwing error by Washington pitcher, Jhonny Montoya (1-3) on a sacrifice bunt.

A Joash Brodin bunt single packed the bases for Samuelson, who crushed his 4th homer of the year on the first pitch he saw.

London was trailing 6-4 entering the 7th inning, but David Christensen scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-5.

The Wild Things made it interesting with two runs in the top of the 9th, but Tony Delmonico got Will Arnold to fly out to center to end the game for his first save.

The defense was not much to brag about. Along with London's five errors, Washington committed four of their own. 7 of the game's runs were unearned.

This one went back and forth, just like the first game in the series. London broke out with a 3-1 lead in the third; however, a three run 4th for Washington put them up 4-3.

London tied it in the 4th, but two more Washington runs in the 5th gave them a 6-4 lead.

London's starter, Jamie Richmond (4-2) went 8 innings, giving up 9 hits and two earned runs. He struck out four and didn't walk anyone.

The Rippers will finish their series with Washington tomorrow at 1pm. Brandon Sinnery (1-0 7.30) gets the ball for London against Chris Smith (2-3 2.94). All tickets are half- price for tomorrow's contest.
